On 17 June 2022, ALDA Secretary General, Antonella Valmorbida joined the webinar entitled: “Ukraine: Regional and local initiatives for support and exchanges”, organised by the Assembly for European Region (AER).

The LET’S MEET project aims at erasing the geographical borders by sharing, through the use of new media such as podcasts, biographies of the most prominent figures of European cultures in order to highlight and embrace the cultural diversity rooted in European history. 

On 21-22 June 2022, Brussels hosted the European Development Days 2022 (EDD), Europe’s most important forum on international partnership organised by the European Commission. 

On Monday, May 9th 2022, Antonella Valmorbida, ALDA Secretary General, together with colleagues from the Strasbourg Office were pleased to be invited to the closing ceremony of the Conference on the Future of Europe.

On Wednesday the 30th ALDA France participated to “Le débat Présidentielle 2022: un quinquennat pour quelle Europe?” (2022 Presidential: a five-year period for which Europe).

“Euroscepticism at the gates of Europe”: the international event was held on 5th of March 2022 in Trieste, organized within the “EUScepticOBS: analyzing Euroscepticism, informing citizens and encouraging debates” project.

The Hemicycle of the European Parliament in Strasbourg will host her 4th plenary of the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE), from Friday 11 March until Saturday 12 March.

“Euroscepticism at the gates of Europe”: the international event organised within the “EUScepticOBS: analyzing Euroscepticism, informing citizens and encouraging debates” project. The latter, funded by the Europe for Citizens program, is aimed at fostering European citizenship, while imporoving the conditions for civic and democratic participation at Union level.

It was 9 months ago when one of the most interesting and most relevant initiatives of the European Union has kicked off.  What could be called an unprecedented event, the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE) is running, collecting thousands of precious inputs in the dedicated Platform.

The  ACHIEVE – Awareness of Common History for Identifying and Extending the Values of Europe – project had its 3rd International event from 5 to 7 December in Peja, Kosovo*. 

On 19th November 2021, the Young European France organised the national day entitled “ European Cities Label”.  Launched in 2020 for French municipalities by the Young European France (JEF), this initiative is supported by the France European Mouvement (MEF) and Union of European Federalists in France (UEF).

The #MediterraneanDay is thus intended to remind people that similarities are stronger that differences. From 2021 and each year onward, on November 28th, several initiatives will be promoted so that to celebrates common achievements, relations while stimulating common understanding.

The 41st session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities took place in Strasbourg from 26 to 28 October 2021.

ARC Research Centre of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan, Alliance for Social Generativity, with the support of Fondazione Cattolica are looking for 50 young leaders to share ideas and energies and become the real engine of our country, through Social Generativity.

“Believe and invest in every single citizen” – with these words ALDA Secretary General – Antonella Valmorbida commented on the key role that democracy plays in our society. Yet, since its very beginning, the Association has been committed to spread democracy as a shared value, as well as a living condition. In light of that, on the occasion of Democracy Week 2021, ALDA is happy to celebrate this anniversary inviting everyone to play an active role! 

In the afternoon of Monday 6 September was held, at the Council Chamber of the Town Hall of Thiene, a training event on the Conference on the Future of Europe and the annexed presentation of the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027, organised by SEI – European Intermunicipal Service with the collaboration of ALDA+, ALDA’s Benefit Company.

Summer 2021 marked a great moment as far as regional cooperation in the Balkan Region concerns., especially in regard to “Open Balkan” initiative. Thus, Prime Ministers, Rama and Zaev –  from Albania and North Macedonia respectively – and Serbian President Vučić agreed on abolishing border control among the three countries by 2023.
